By Uthman Baba-Sirajdeen, Minna – [ASHENEWS] July 2, 2025: Niger State Governor and farmer, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has called on the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to immediately inaugurate campaign councils at the state, local government, and ward levels in preparation for the upcoming local government council elections.

The governor made the call while hosting all APC flag bearers from the 25 local government areas of the state to a special dinner held at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Minna.

Governor Bago, who commended the APC for the rigorous screening process that produced the flag bearers for the council elections slated for November this year, emphasized that forming campaign councils in all 274 wards across the state is a strategic move to ensure electoral success.

He congratulated all the party’s flag bearers on their emergence and urged them to consider it a privilege not to be taken for granted. He also advised them to reach out to aggrieved members of the party to strengthen internal cohesion, adding that the APC constitution provides mechanisms for resolving disputes and urged members to adhere strictly to peaceful resolution processes.

Expressing optimism about a sweeping victory, the governor predicted that the party would win all councillorship seats in the November polls. He also assured that campaigns would reach every nook and cranny of the state and used the opportunity to appreciate President Bola Tinubu for his continued contributions to the growth of the APC and the development of Niger State.

Speaking on behalf of the State APC Chairman, Aminu Musa Bobi, the party’s secretary, Dr. Adamu Gani, noted that due processes were followed in the selection of all local government flag bearers to ensure that only the best candidates emerged.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Niger State chapter, Zakari Ilyasu, described the event as historic. He acknowledged the difficulty of selecting flag bearers from the 25 LGAs and reaffirmed the commitment of all APC stakeholders in the state to support the “farmer governor,” whom he described as a father figure. He also stressed the need for strategic planning during the campaign period.

In her remarks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Nma Kolo, said the dinner served as a platform for familiarization and strategic discussions aimed at ensuring the APC’s victory in the forthcoming council elections.
