The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has extended his heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Jigawa State following the tragic fuel tanker explosion in Majiya Town, Taura Local Government Area.

The devastating incident, which occurred last Tuesday night, claimed the lives of more than 90 people and left over 50 others injured. The Minister expressed his deep sorrow and sympathized with the victims and their families, calling the incident a profound tragedy that has affected not just Jigawa, but the entire nation.

“I am deeply saddened by the tragic fuel tanker explosion that claimed precious lives and left many injured. My heart goes out to the people of Jigawa State during this difficult time. I pray that the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may Almighty God grant their families the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. I also wish the injured a swift and full recovery,” the Minister said.

He further assured the state government and the affected communities of the Federal Government’s support in responding to the disaster. The Minister highlighted the need for immediate and long-term measures to prevent such incidents, emphasizing that safety regulations must be strictly enforced to protect lives and property.

Badaru, who hails from Jigawa State, also urged the relevant authorities to carry out thorough investigations into the cause of the explosion and to provide the necessary relief and medical assistance to the victims. He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that such tragic occurrences are minimized through enhanced safety protocols in fuel transportation.

The Minister’s visit to the affected area comes as the people of Majiya Town and the entire Jigawa State continue to mourn the loss of their loved ones. Local authorities have been working tirelessly to provide aid to the survivors and affected families, while medical teams are attending to the injured.
