Congratulations to my leader per excellence, my mentor and philanthropist, H.E Senator Aliyu M. Wamakko for establishing the NorthWest University Sokoto, one of the first indigenous Universities in Sokoto State, Nigeria.

Your Excellency Sir, you have demonstrated the most uncommon leadership style and achieved what most people dream about. Your zeal, commitment, determination and consistency are what make your dream a reality. No matter the crowd, people like you will always stand out. Over the years, you have impacted positively on the lives of many people.

Infact, there is no one in our modern day politics that has worked as hard as you have done in the last few decades.  The respect that people give you is earned not given. You’re a technocrat to the core, your passion for education and service to humanity is not in doubt.  You started your career as a teacher, a profession that you are still proud of. Your philanthropic nature has no border even to your adversaries. Your love for education and service to humanity makes you to sponsor annually hundreds of children from less privileged families  to various institutions across the globe. This generosity to the poor and less privileged is never in doubt at any day, any hour,  any minute; you have actually devoted yourself to the service of your people, jazakallah khair.

I’ am confident that you are into politics only  to  provide good leadership, dividends of democracy, create  wealth for people, mentor the budding leaders so that they can provide the desired leadership. You are indeed a man of unusual wisdom, character and foresight. A man with intellect far beyond his time and generation.

The Almighty Allah has blessed you and history will be kind to you in so many ways for your selfless service to humanity.

Tertiary education is the bedrock of development. This investment is for the people, community and generations to come. I have no doubt that your investment for establishing this university is not for financial gains, but for an opportunity to educate your people. This is extremely commendable, given the educationally low developed status of most of our Northwestern states in Nigeria. Muslims are enjoined to search for knowledge, and the first verse revealed to our noble Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was to seek for knowledge, which is clearly very instructive.

Also, a Japanese billionaire, Mr. Konosuke Matsushita, said in an interview tha the only secret to success is continuous learning. May the Almighty Allah reward you abundantly.

I wish to sincerely thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve as the Secretary Planning and Implementation Committee of this University. This has indeed afforded me the opportunity to put my little contributions to this prodigious achievement.

May Almighty Allah crown your efforts with more successes and rise to even greater heights. Ameen

Rt. Hon. (Barr.) B. M. Goronyo LL.B, BL, Mesem, Mphil, CMC
